No. 382012.10.11
"One's title is an expression of one’s true self... isn't it?"
On a certain day in December the temperature in Tokyo was 23℃. I thought it was ridiculously hot, but then I remembered. Oh yeah. It's because the national qualifying tournaments for the "2011 Japan's Fastest Championships” are starting.
A scorching battle had been unfolding across the nation to see who would be crowned the fastest; of course this’ll make the average temperature rise by 10℃! (Self-satisfied expression)
The National Championships…
It’s me, Yamashita – the only title I’ve ever won my lifetime until now was the silver medal at the "Junior New Year’s Card Cup".
We got a lot of feedback and comments about the story and script for the last issue, "Lost in a Story" , such as “I love Makoto too!”, etc. Anyway, thank you very much. We will definitely put it to good use as reference material!
Speaking of the story, the characters and the machines in the manuscript have lots of cool nicknames, from "Demon Z" and "Blackbird" to things like "Hell’s Tuner," “Jettin' Devil,” or "R-Killer". These kinds of nicknames are something which are indispensable for pro wrestlers and for a certain country's robot anime characters.
So, this time it’s a really “relaxed” topic.
You can get nicknames like these as “titles” in the Wangan Midnight Maximum Tune series. So in this game, you can assert yourself on the outside with “dress up” styling, and on the inside with the “titles”. That is part of what makes this series fun.
As everyone probably already knows, these titles are not just the generic kind that appear automatically when you play; there are a number of variables. For example, the titles change depending on how many times you rotate the confirmation screen for the card data from the beginning to end. Also, you can retire in front of specific buildings with titles related to these places, and the number reaches into the thousands!
Now, for an undercover look at development team member's cards...
- A certain producer known as the "legendary technician" doesn't really have much to do with cars or video games.
- A certain programmer called the "Trained Sparrow" really wants to be born as a sparrow in the next life.
- A certain planner, the "legendary Evo 9 MR," is exceedingly serious.
- A certain guy named Te****o the "Iron Man" is in fact the true self of most shot down alter-ego in Japan
- The person that usually writes about the chassis "The night sky is yours" is a total romantic.
And by the way, my title is "German Metal."
I could probably become good buddies with anyone who is sympathetic to this title.
There must still be lots of cool titles out there. That’s why I’m searching for them.
More orthodox titles and ones that fit the mold - Titles that sound like titles.
Ones that sound scary, but also cool. That seems like a distinct possibility.
"Uh, Hmm, something seems a little strange.” The Somewhere Whatsits" works for anything, right?
It’s an alias for sure, but is it cool? What do you think?
It’s already slightly insulting, isn't it?
It’s already a surname, Y’know.
Murmurs of the heart huh....Go to the dentist already.
I refuse to stand on formality.
Coming on out with a little too much of any and everything.
She gets pretty irritating while I'm playing
That's exactly what I mean. "Is upon us," who talks like that?
It was good, pretty delicious, sort of.
You again! C’mon I'm begging you, the time to play is "upon us."
... So these "Titles" can go on forever (into the lawless zones?)
Of course, after some time even "German Metal" will sound alright.
By the way, on the development team we express our sorrow with the title.
Chanchan♪
So everyone, If you have some "Greatest Title" or "Title of Dreams," please let us hear them all without delay, and we might just use your title in our next production.
So with that, I'll see you next time!
