There is no course specified for VS Player mode. Please select a starting point from the eight driving areas (C1, New circular, Wangan line, Yokohane line, Nagoya Speed Ring, Hanshin Expressway loop line, Fukuoka Urban Expressway and Hakone). Once the race begins, the panel to select branching direction appears just before the branching point in the course. The top player at that point can select the direction and other players must follow it.

Once you have selected an area to race on, the game machine will automatically select the start point (start ramp) within that area.

HP handicap is a system to make more battles more exciting by supporting players who got a late start. The amount of HP handicap is decided by the number of tuning gages possessed by the player. If you want to play seriously without HP handicap, all members must press the brake pedal at that screen (the indicator flashes orange). Then you can play a ‘serious battle’ without HP handicap.

You can get stars by winning races. The number of stars you are given depends on your battle record. This star is called an ‘Outrun star’. More outrun stars mean that you have won more races.

The key to winning in VS Player mode in Wangan Maxi 3DX PLUS is choosing the right branching point. Selecting the direction that is good for your car settings when you are driving in first place is a shortcut to success. However, you cannot select a direction at the branching point if you are not in first place. So, it is important to get into first place and think ahead about where is best for you to race.
