Ghost Versus Battle Mode is a mode where you use your "ghost" to race. Ghost will be created by the actual player racing in Ghost Versus Battle Mode. Ghost memorizes the player's way of driving and races as the player does. Ghost does not mean the actual ghost, but is exist, so you can strike it during the race. And since it reflects the player's skill and way of driving, you may feel that you are playing with the actual player and enjoy it.
And you may get dress-up parts that can be used to change your car's appearance if your result is enough.

I guess you started the game without a card. If you are not using a Tuning card, you cannot play Ghost Versus Battle Mode. If you have it and start the game, you can select Ghost Battle mode in the game mode selection screen.

Your ghost is saved in the cabinet where you play the game. If the machine is connected to other machines, the ghost is shared with them and you can call your ghost from the connected machine. (Up to 4 machines can share one ghost) Up to 1,000 ghosts (equal to 1,000 cards) are saved.

If the machine has more than 1,000 ghosts, the unused ghosts are deleted one by one according to the following conditions.

• Ghosts whose owner has not renewed.
• Ghosts who have not been selected by other players
• Ghost's whose date and time of renewal is old.

The ghost you play with can be selected in the following way:

• Select by level
  From the ghosts saved in the machine, you can select the opponent by specifying your tuning level (the number of tuning gauges gained in Story mode). The displayed ghost is 10 selected from the matched ghosts in a random manner. You can challenge the top player's ghost.
  It is an easy way if you try Ghost battle for the first time.
• Select by card name
  You can search the ghost to play with by using card names. (You can also do it by using the 4-digit number printed in the upper right of the card)
  If you are searching for the ghost of your friend, it may be the easiest.
• Select from your Friends List.
  If you have a Friend List, you can select the opponent from it.
  If you have friends to go and play Wangan Maxi 3 and you want to play Ghost Battle with their ghosts, it may be the best choice.
• Select a player who has defeated you
  If your ghost has raced with other player and been defeated, he is registered in "Re-Match List". If you have, "Select a player who has defeated you" option is enabled.
  If you have anyone to defeat, this option is very useful.

It is the list of opponents registered as a friend.
If the opponent has satisfied the following conditions, he is registered as a friend.

1. Opponent you raced with in VS player mode.
2. Opponent whose ghost was selected by "Ghost Versus Battle Mode" and raced with you.
3. Opponent who has fought "Re-matches" with you many times
   (More than 3 Re-matches are required)

You can register up to 9 opponents in the Friend List. If there are more than 9 opponents, the opponents who do not satisfy the conditions above are deleted one by one.

It is the list of opponents who have defeated you.
If you select the opponent from "Re-Match List", this race becomes a "Re-Match". When you beat that opponent in the Re-Match, he is deleted from your Re-Match List because you no longer have to fight a "Re-Match" with him.
You can register up to 9 opponents in Re-Match List. If there are more than 9 opponents, the opponents whose date of registration is older are deleted one by one. And if the opponent has defeated your ghost many times, the condition of that opponents at the time of defeating you last.

If your ghost has been defeated by another player after you left the game machine, the message "Challenge received!" is displayed on the screen. The name of opponent who defeated you most recently is displayed there. Selecting "YES" here starts the Re-Match directly. This is a shortcut to Re-Match.

There is no course specified for Ghost Versus Battle mode. Please select from 6 driving areas (C1, New circular, Wangan line, Yokohane line, Hanshin Expressway loop line and Hakone). Once the race begins, the branching direction is decided automatically according to each ghost.

I recommend you choose "Challenge the top player!". You can find "Challenge the top player!" option at the right of the screen when you select a level in "Select by level". If you select this option, the top player's ghosts in each driving area are displayed on the screen.

There is only one ghost with a "Crown" in each driving area. If you defeat the ghost with a crown, that crown belongs to you. If this step is repeated, the top player in that driving area finally gets the crown. "Challenge the top player!" option extracts ghosts with a crown and you select them.
If you become the top player, your ghost is displayed in Attract.

We recommend that you go with your friends and play Ghost Battle alternately.
