Tuning cards store data magnetically. Bringing the card close to a magnet can destroy the data on the card, so never do it!
Make sure you don’t put a card in a wallet or card case with a magnetic button.
Heat is used to erase and print characters on the card. Leaving the card in direct sunlight or near a stove for long periods of time can cause the printed characters to disappear, or the card to bend. This prevents the machine from reading the data, so be careful. One thing that we often saw in the past was that when the cards were placed in a case or wallet with a button, when pressure was put on the button the card bent, making it unusable.
Data from damaged cards cannot be retrieved.
