Tuning means improving your car's capability. In Wangan Maxi 3, your car is tuned if you satisfy conditions such as beating your rivals. The more your car is tuned, the more possibility you have to win faster rivals or to record better time in Time Attack mode.

The tuning has 2 types in Wangan Maxi 3: "Power" with which you improve your car's acceleration power and maximum speed, and "Handling" with which you improve your car's cornering ability. You can choose which you want to focus on to tune your car in the tuning screen. You can make your cars as you like, for example, thrilling cars with power only and cars focused on handling at the corners.| Q3 | What is "Setting"? |

In Wangan Maxi 3, you can allocate tuning gauges gained in episode 21 or later to Power or Handling as you desire. This is "Setting". In order to beat rivals with higher rank, you may need to carry out "Setting" that matches the driving area. And also in Time attack mode, "Settings" appropriate to the course may make you record better times.
